Kim Jong Un announces nuclear forces to grow at "exponential rate"

North Korea is announcing plans to grow the country's nuclear forces "at an
exponential rate."

State media says that leader Kim Jong Un visited a new facility to produce
nuclear materials.

They added that the facility uses "more sophisticated technology" but did not
provide further details.

The announcement comes as Kim has repeatedly vowed to expand his nuclear
weapons program to cope with what it views as threats from the US military.

The North Korean leader also stated that North Korea's weapons-grade nuclear
materials production capacity has increased more than twice over compared
with 5 years ago.

The facility's revelation came less than two years after North Korea unveiled
another covert uranium-enrichment plant in September 2024.
