Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation says, 66 thousand people are eligible for ticket refunds due to mass delays and cancellations last week.
Those refunds will cost the company 35.2 million NT.
The disruption last Monday was caused by a signal abnormality which forced the THSR to operate limited trains.
The company says more than 200,000 people were affected by the issue.
According to THSR policy, those whose arrival time at the destination was delayed by 30 minutes to an hour are eligibile for a 50% refund off the ticket price...
while those delayed by more than an hour can get all their money back.
The company adds that refund requests can be submitted up to one year after the incident, without any handling fees.
THSR said today that the issue was caused by a switch control unit power module.
According to the company, the affected modules were removed in emergency repairs and are being kept under lock and key so that an investigation may determine the root cause of the incident.
