MOHW: Free Ebola Testing for Travelers from DRC Uganda
Posted on 2026-06-03 19:16:13
The Ministry of Health and Welfare says free voluntary testing will be offered at airports to travelers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, as authorities step up measures to prevent Ebola from entering the country.
Health Minister Shih Chung-liang says from today through June 30th, asymptomatic travelers and returning Taiwanese nationals with travel history to the DRC or Uganda will be offered free blood testing at Taipei Songshan, Taoyuan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung airports upon arrival, in addition to receiving a self-health management notice.
The Centers for Disease Control announced last week that from midnight on June 2nd, residents of the DRC and Uganda would be temporarily barred from entering Taiwan for 90 days, with limited exceptions for urgent humanitarian cases and three other categories.
This marks the first entry restriction Taiwan has imposed since lifting COVID-19 border controls.
