Taiwan Hotel Rates Edge Higher as Occupancy Climbs

New government data shows that it's getting more expensive to book hotels in Taiwan.
According to the Tourism Administration, average room rates reached over 3 thousand 100 NT per night in the first quarter of 2026 — a 1.5 percent year-on-year increase.
The agency says rising costs for electricity, labor, and food are driving the price bump.
However, officials note that around 80 percent of hotel rooms are actually priced below that overall average, meaning there are still plenty of diverse options available.
They also pointed out that the hotel sector is seeing steady growth.
Occupancy rates topped 53 percent this quarter — marking a steady climb from last year, and a nearly four-point jump from two years ago.
The market remains heavily supported by domestic travel, with local tourists making up over 70 percent of the more than 18 million total guests.
