KMT Chair: Cross-Strait Peace Depends on US-China Ties Too
Posted on 2026-06-03 18:28:14
KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun says lasting peace across the Taiwan Strait cannot be achieved by focusing only on relations between Taiwan and China ...
... and that cooperation between Beijing and Washington is also important.
The main opposition leader made the comments in San Francisco yesterday ... during a visit to the United States.
Cheng went on to say that she hopes to see reconciliation and cooperation between the U-S and China, calling that the most important message she wanted to bring on the trip.
At a separate event with tech leaders, Cheng said Taiwan's high-tech sector needs stable power, arguing the island must continue developing nuclear energy.
Cheng added that if the KMT returns to power in 2028, it would correct what she called "flawed energy policy" from Taiwan's ruling D-P-P.
