Transportation Ministry plans tougher drugged driving rules
Posted on 2026-06-03 15:42:14
The Transportation Ministry plans to revoke licenses for some drug users,
even if they have not driven.
The proposal comes as officials move to crack down on drugged driving.
Marijuana is a Category 2 narcotic in Taiwan.
Officials say actions that are legal overseas may still violate Taiwan law
after a person enters Taiwan.
They say license penalties could apply if police in Taiwan confirm drug use
and report the case.
The ministry also plans to raise drugged driving fines for cars to
120-thousand NT.
Motorcycle fines would rise to 90-thousand NT.
Officials say the amendments could be sent to the Cabinet this month, with a
goal of taking effect by the end of the year.
