Lai says Taiwan could enter top 20 economies next year

President Lai Ching-te says Taiwan is expected to become one of the world's
top 20 economies next year.

Lai made the comment today at the opening of COMPUTEX 2026 in Taipei.

He said Taiwan's stock market value reached 4.95 trillion US dollars in May.

That made it the world's fifth-largest stock market.

He also said Taiwan's full-year growth forecast has been raised to 9.64
percent.

Lai said Taiwan has become an essential part of global AI development.

He said stable power supply will not be a problem before 2032.

He also pledged support for talent, water, electricity and land as AI demand
continues to grow.

Lai said the government will help Taiwan become a trusted and sustainable
base for the AI industry.
