CDC monitors measles cluster
Posted on 2026-06-02 16:53:14
The Centers for Disease Control says an imported measles case from Thailand
has led to a domestic infection in northern Taiwan.

The new patient is a man in his 20s who lived with the imported case.

Health officials say the cluster now has two confirmed cases.

They have listed 491 contacts for monitoring until June 16.

Taiwan has recorded 11 measles cases so far this year.

Eight were imported, and three were domestic cases linked to clusters.

The CDC says measles outbreaks are continuing in Japan, Bangladesh and parts
of Southeast Asia.

It says vaccination is the most effective protection, and Taiwan has enough
public-funded MMR vaccines.
