She said the delegation plans to meet federal officials in Washington, including those from Taiwan-related offices, the State Department and the Defense Department.
Cheng said the delegation will begin in California with discussions at Stanford University's Hoover Institution before traveling to Boston for visits and exchanges at Harvard University and MIT.
The group will then travel to New York for discussions with leading think tanks before heading to Washington for meetings with lawmakers, administration officials and policy institutes.

However, She acknowledged that there is no precedent for such a meeting since Washington switched diplomatic recognition from Taipei to Beijing.
