TSMC partners with supplier to reduce carbon dioxide

TSMC said that, through a partnership with one of its suppliers of hydrogen peroxide, it will be able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1200 metric tonnes annually.
That is roughly four or five times the weight of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
In a newsletter, TSMC said that hydrogen peroxide and carbon dioxide are both required in the production of semiconductors.
But carbon dioxide is emitted during the generation of hydrogen, which is a chemical used in turn to produce hydrogen peroxide.
So, instead of using fresh carbon dioxide, TSMC and its suppliers have installed a recovery pipeline at the hydrogen plant to capture and purify the carbon dioxide that was already a byproduct of hydrogen peroxide production.
