MOTC to Ease Parking Regulations for Tour Bus Operators

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is planning to ease parking
space requirements for tour bus operators.

Under current rules, operators must provide one parking space for every eight
vehicles in their fleet.

The ministry is proposing to lower that ratio to one space for every ten
vehicles.

The MOTC says vehicles frequently operate away from home base and often park
overnight in other locations, reducing the need for on-site parking, and
limited land availability and the large space required for tour buses have
also made it increasingly difficult for operators to meet current
requirements.

The draft amendment has been announced for public review.
