Flight Attendants Union Demands Wages Repaid by Tigerair

The Taoyuan Flight Attendants' Union is demanding that Tigerair Taiwan immediately repay wages to cabin crew members who were forced onto unpaid leave during pregnancy.
This comes after the Taoyuan City Government found the airline guilty of discriminating against pregant staff.
The union said today that most airlines help pregnant cabin crew temporarily transfer to ground duties to protect their income and comply with gender equality requirements.
But it alleges that Tigerair required pregnant cabin crew to take unpaid leave, with no option for internal reassignment.
The union is calling on the airline to stop using internal regulations to override national law and to restore wages to affected employees without further delay.
In response, Tigerair says the issues raised are being carefully reviewed and discussed with employees at all levels.
