Digital ministry warns of risks in Chinese apps
Posted on 2026-05-27 18:03:14
The digital ministry says four Chinese-made apps may pose cybersecurity and
privacy risks.

The tested apps are Amap, bilibili, iQIYI, and BIMOBIMO.

Officials say all four transmit data to servers in China.

They say Amap had the most risk items, with 11 on Android systems and eight
on iOS systems.

The ministry says Amap may access location data, microphones, contacts,
calendars, health records, and device identifiers.

It says some permissions appear unrelated to the app's main functions.

Officials say the data could expose users' movements, personal information,
or business secrets.

The ministry is urging people to read privacy terms, check app permissions,
and use cybersecurity protection tools.
