Husband of Former SNP Leader Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

Peter Murrell, the estranged husband of former Scottish leader Nicola
Sturgeon, has pleaded guilty to embezzling over 400,000 pounds from the
Scottish National Party.

Authorities say he used the money to buy a motorhome and two cars.

Murrell, who was the SNP's chief executive, was remanded into custody after
his plea in the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday.

He was originally arrested in April 2023 during an investigation into the
SNP’s finances.

Sturgeon, who resigned in 2023 after eight years as first minister, was later
cleared of any wrongdoing.

Murrell and Sturgeon announced their divorce last year.
