Taiwan aims to sharply expand drone output by 2030
Posted on 2026-05-21 17:26:13
The Economics Ministry says it wants to raise the country's drone production
capacity to 100-thousand units a month by 2030.

That would be more than six times the current monthly capacity of about
15-thousand units.

The ministry also wants exports to make up more than half of Taiwan's drone
sales by then.

It says exports are already growing fast, with first-quarter shipments
topping the total for all of last year.

Industrial Development Administration Director-General Chiu Chiu-hui (邱求慧)
says Taiwan's drone output value could pass earlier targets.

He says the industry should focus on higher-value drones, including
military-use commercial models.

Chiu says those models can compete through anti-interference systems,
autonomous flight and reliability.

The ministry says it will keep supporting local production and help companies
expand overseas.
