President Lai Ching-te is slated to deliver an address at 10 o'clock this morning marking the second anniversary of his inauguration.
Lai will present the address from the Presidential Building accompanied by Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Meng-an, and other senior members of his team.
Reports say Lai will use the occasion to review his achievements since his inauguration two years ago, focus on the 30th anniversary of direct presidential elections and outline his future policy directions.
Those future directions are expected to include issues related to strengthening democracy, national security, economic resilience, and social welfare ...
.. as well as plans to invest in industrial revitalization and measures to address the declining birth rate.
Lai is also expected to call on Taiwan's major political parties to agree and a common base line in the face of external threats and to reject China's united front tactics.
