The decision by the World Health Organization member states regarding
Taiwan's status at the World Health Assembly came after President Lai
Ching-te told delegates at the Taiwan Global Health Forum Series ..

.. that Taiwan would be able to make greater contributions to global health
if it were a member of the W-H-O.

Speaking in a prerecorded video message at the event in Geneva, Lai said
Taiwan has long played an active role in global health and remains committed
to sharing its experiences as a responsible and reliable partner.

According to Lai, the world is seeing many profound changes. Technology is
developing fast, populations are aging, and new infectious diseases continue
to emerge. Therefore, we bear greater responsibilities than ever before ...

... and as Taiwan's first president with a medical background, he is eager to
join forces to build a "Healthy Taiwan."

The two-day Taiwan Global Health Forum Series has been organized by the
Ministry of Health to coincide with the 79th World Health Assembly.

Both Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung and Health Minister Shih Chung-liang are
in the Swiss city to attend events on the sidelines of the W-H-A.
