New survey data shows public support for same-sex marriage in Taiwan has risen sharply since it was legalized nearly seven years ago.
According to the poll released by the "Taiwan Equality Campaign", support for same-sex marriage now stands at 54-point-3 percent — up 12 percentage points from 2019.
The survey also found growing support for related issues, including adoption rights, cross-national same-sex marriages, and gender equality education.
More than two-thirds of respondents said they support adoption by same-sex couples, while support for gender equality education reached a record 75 percent.
The poll also found younger Taiwanese are especially supportive of LGBT-friendly workplaces and political representation.
