New Taipei is fining three branches of the Airelee Clinic group 500 thousand
NT over violations of patient privacy.

City authorities have also ordered the branches in Xinzhuang, Linkou, and
Yonghe districts to suspend operations for six months.

The penalties came after health authorities said investigators confirmed the
clinics used disguised surveillance equipment to record patients inside
treatment and operating rooms.

They say the clinics violated medical regulations and laws protecting patient
privacy and safety.

Authorities add that another Airelee branch in Banqiao could face the same
punishment once investigators recover and review surveillance footage that
had been formatted or erased.

New Taipei officials also say they are coordinating with prosecutors in a
separate investigation involving Glow Clinic ...

... and promise severe penalties if evidence of illegal recordings is
confirmed.
