Taipei Zoo Asiatic Black Bear Enclosure Improvements

Taipei Zoo is inviting visitors to check out changes to its new Asiatic black
bear enclosure.

The zoo announced that 18-year-old Belle is settling well in her new home in
the temperate zone, after moving there last October.

Keepers say she has displaying a range of natural behaviors including
digging, splashing in a large pool, and using enrichment props to forage for
food.

To give her more opportunities to climb, keepers added a wooden perch
structure to the enclosure.

And they say she has since been spotted rubbing her back against various
parts of the frame and using it for eating and sleeping.

Belle is one of three Asiatic black bears currently on display at the Taipei
Zoo.
