Philippines investigates extrajudicial killings

Now turning to international news...

The Philippines will summon a former chief of police as part of an
investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings under former president
Duterte.

Ronald dela Rosa, who is now a senator, will be summoned by the Philippine
National Police to be investigated.

The thousands of killings of mostly drug suspects took place when Duterte was
mayor of Davao and when he became president in 2016.

The killings alarmed rights groups and Western governments.

Duterte was arrested last year and now faces trial at the Internaitonal
Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity.

The summoning of dela Rosa comes as there's been speculation that he faces
imminent arrest on order of the ICC.

He hasn't appeared at the Senate since November.
