Gym Complaints Surge After True Yoga Collapse

Consumer complaints involving gyms and fitness centers in Taiwan nearly tripled in 2025 compared with the year before ... mainly due to the sudden closure of True Yoga Fitness.
 
The Department of Consumer Protection says fitness-related disputes ranked first among complaint categories in 2025, with over 5 thousand 500 cases reported.
 
And over 3 thousand 300 of those ... or around 60 percent ... were linked to the closure.
 
Overall, authorities handled more than 83 thousand complaint and mediation cases that year.
 
Other top complaint categories included online games, food, transportation, and clothing, leather goods and footwear.
 
Consumer officials urged people to avoid large upfront gym payments, pay monthly when possible, check whether businesses provide performance guarantees,.
 
They also advise using credit cards ... to improve chances of recovering funds if a company suddenly closes.
