Deputy Economics Minister Lai Chien-hsin says oil and gas supplies will remain stable through September, despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the closure of in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at the 2026 Taiwan Energy Summit Forum in Taipei, Lai said the government has been holding daily energy meetings since late February, and C-P-C has already begun advance planning for winter fuel procurement.

.. telling summit attendees that C-P-C has database of more than 180 oil product types from over 40 countries, allowing it to quickly switch suppliers if a source is disrupted.
The deputy economics minister also talked about the government's so-called "second energy transition" policy - which is focuses on renewable energy development, diversified supplies, grid upgrades, energy conservation and storage.
According to Lai, that policy is advancing and in terms of renewable energy, and although green electricity is currently mainly been supplied to industries through feed-in tariff mechanisms, steps are being taken to promote broader public adoption of green energy sources.
