Taiwan Visitor Numbers to Hong Kong Rise in First Quarter

More Taiwanese traveled to Hong Kong in the first quarter compared with a year earlier.
Figures from the Hong Kong Tourism Board show nearly 420 thousand visits — up over 13 percent year-on-year.
About 214 thousand were overnight stays, making Taiwan the second-largest source of visitors after China.
Officials say travelers are mainly drawn by events such as concerts, food, and attractions like Disneyland.
Despite a recent rise in airline fuel surcharges, travel interest has dipped slightly, though the impact has been limited, partly due to Hong Kong's close proximity to Taiwan.
Authorities are also promoting seasonal events, including the Cheung Chau Bun Festival in May and international dragon boat races in June.
