Keelung is offering rewards for those who come forward with information leading to the source of an oil pollution incident discovered along a local river earlier this week.
Oil residue was found accumulating along the Keelung riverbank near Qianxiang Bridge on April 27th.
Workers deployed oil-absorbent booms to contain the spread, but the source of the contamination has not yet been identified.
Officials say under city regulations, informants can receive up to 50 percent of the fines actually collected, depending on the circumstances and the informant's identity. Authorities will keep the identity of any informant strictly confidential.
