UK PM Facing New Pressore over Mandelson Appointment

In international news,

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing new pressure over the decision to
appoint Peter Mandelson as U-K ambassador to the United States.

Lawmakers are set to vote later today on whether Starmer should be
investigated by a parliamentary standards watchdog.

Starmer's former chief of staff Morgan McSweeney will testify to legislators
about how Mandelson got the job despite failing security checks.

Starmer fired Mandelson in September after new details emerged about his
friendship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Critics argue Starmer's decision shows poor judgment.

The vote comes just days before local and regional elections on May which
could add pressure on Starmer’s leadership.
