Think tank raises Taiwan's 2026 GDP growth forecast to 7.56%

The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research has raised its forecast for
Taiwan's gross domestic product growth in 2026 to 7.56 percent.

The institute the upgrade reflects strong global demand for artificial
intelligence, which is driving exports and investment.

The new forecast is significantly higher than earlier estimates and is close
to the government's official projection.

Exports are now expected to grow by more than 27 percent, with imports also
rising on the back of increased demand.

Investment is also set to expand, particularly in semiconductors and tech
infrastructure.

Analysts say AI-related industries have become the main engine of Taiwan’s
economic growth.

Despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East pushing up costs, inflation is
expected to remain below the central bank’s two percent alert threshold.
