Troubling new data shows that about 15 percent of children and teenagers say they would send private photos in exchange for free game items.
Research from the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families found that nearly three-quarters of kids use social media, and many add people they meet online, with a smaller share even accepting friend requests from strangers.
Some are then asked to share personal information or photos.
Experts say online sexual exploitation is rising, with about 70 percent of cases now involving the internet, and reported victims more than doubling over the past five years.
While most children say they've learned about online safety, mainly at school, fewer than half say their parents have discussed it with them.
Advocates are calling for stronger awareness and more family engagement, as online threats become harder to spot.
