think tank says

Nikkei Asia reports that Taiwan's drone exports to Europe in the first
quarter of this year have already exceeded the total for all of 2025.

The Taipei-based research institute D-SET estimates around 136-thousand
completed drones were shipped to Europe in the first three months of 2026.

That surpasses the 107-thousand units exported in all of last year -- itself
a more than 40-fold jump from 2024.

Most shipments have gone to Poland and the Czech Republic, seen as key
transfer points for Ukraine.

D-SET warns that most sales are still driven by private buyers rather than
government procurement, leaving the market potentially unstable.

The think tank is urging Taiwan to deepen cooperation with Ukraine, citing
Taiwan's strengths in chips, motors, and batteries alongside Ukraine's
battlefield experience.

It also calls for a trusted, Europe-facing procurement framework to help
Taiwanese firms meet emerging China-free certification requirements.
