CDC Warns Local Enterovirus Cases Rising Quickly

The Centers for Disease Control says local enterovirus cases are rising
quickly.

CDC data shows that outpatient and emergency visits were up more than 16
percent in the past week to over 3 thousand 500.

Health officials warn the surge is expected to continue, with cases
increasing by about 1 thousand per week ...

... potentially surpassing 10 thousand visits in early June and exceeding the
epidemic threshold of around 12 thousand by mid-to-late June.

Officials are urging the public to take precautions, especially when caring
for infants and young children, who are most at risk.

They recommend frequent handwashing, good hygiene, and staying home when sick
to help curb the spread.
