Car crashes into cafe in Miaoli Country, killing one diner

In Miaoli County, a diner at a branch of a chain cafe was killed when a
driver turned into the parking lot and failed to slow down.

The driver, a 71-year-old woman, said she tried to reduce her speed and
doesn't know why she lost control of the car.

Police say they have ruled out drunk driving in the accident. The exact cause
is still under investigation.

A man who took the brunt of the crash was disoriented and unable to speak
when EMTs arrived. After he was taken to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to
his injuries.
