The Coast Guard Administration says a search and rescue operation is ongoing for the missing captain of a Taiwan fishing vessel that caught fire and capsized in waters near the Diaoyutai Islands.
According to the administration, the "Chuan Yu 6" caught fire about 77-nautical miles northeast of the Diaoyutai Islands.
The six Filipino crew members were rescued by a nearby fishing vessel.
However, the captain remains missing.
The Coast Guard administration says it has deployed a patrol vessel for the search and rescue operation, while Japanese authorities have also been contacted to assist in joint search efforts.
The "Chuan Yu 6" left Badouzi Fishing Port in Keelung on April 12.
