Huang on Li requests for money over party resignation

TPP Chairman Huang Kuo-chang says the party's decision to dismiss former
lawmaker Li Zhen-hsiu had nothing to do with her nationality.

He says Li had asked the party to continue paying her salary and benefits for
the remainder of her term in exchange for stepping down.

Huang says he was shocked by the request and that it was impossible for the
party to accept.

His comments come after the TPP's Central Review Committee revoked Li's
membership yesterday.

Li says she accepts the decision, but insists she will not take a single
dollar from the party and is not seeking any position.
