Tai-ex ends at new high despite U.S. threats to blockade Hormuz Strait

Taiwan stocks closed at a record high today, bucking a broader regional downturn.
The benchmark Tai-ex rose 39 points to close at 35,457, with turnover topping 780 billion NT.
Most Asian markets fell and oil prices climbed after the U-S threatened to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route amid tensions with Iran.
Concerns over energy supplies weighed on sentiment earlier in the session.
However, dealers said that late-session buying helped lift the index, with T-S-M-C leading the rebound.
Analysts say investor confidence remains strong, with hopes tensions could ease and optimism ahead of upcoming tech sector outlooks.
