Min Aung Hlaing, the army chief who ousted Aung San Suu Kyi's civilian government five years ago, has been sworn in as Myanmar's president.
His inauguration followed a general election that U.N. experts and rights groups had said was neither fair nor free.
Aung San Suu Kyi's popular National League for Democracy and other major parties did not participate.
Critics said the process will maintain military control under a civilian facade.
Twenty-eight of the thirty new cabinet members are military-affiliated.
Min Aung Hlaing pledged peace with ethnic rebels and said he aims to restore relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which has been concerned about instability in Myanmar.
The election was also criticised for only taking place in less than half of Myanmar's territory.
