Nantou councilor drops TPP association, runs independent

In Nantou, a former TPP county councilor has become the first to publicly
drop his party affiliation following a ruling sentencing party founder Ke Wen
Zhe to 17 years behind bars.

Jian Qian Xiang 簡千翔said that he made the choice because the TPP's party
platform has become more and more vague...

with their actions departing further and further from their purported values.

Jian says, he'll be running for reelection this November as an independent.

Jian said today that he originally joined the TPP with the hope of fighting
against partisanship in Taiwan and became Nantou's first TPP city councilor
four years ago.

However, he says that the TPP's currently prioritizes personal connections,
leading him to become disenchanted with the party.
