fears

Two major retailers have introduced purchase limits on plastic bags, citing
concern over panic buying.

Carrefour announced a limit of one pack per person on heat-resistant bags and
garbage bags.

And Costco has imposed limits on 14 items, including zip-lock bags, garbage
bags, and plastic wrap.

Economy Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫) told lawmakers today that supplies
are stable and the limits are a precaution against panic buying, not a sign
of shortage.

The Bureau of Commerce says it is monitoring major retailers daily.

Middle East tensions have raised concerns about the supply of petrochemical
raw materials, including ethylene, plastics, and asphalt.

Officials say current inventory levels remain sufficient.
