TPP's former lawmaker Zhang Qi-kai to be candidate for Chiayi city

Former TPP lawmaker Zhang Qi-kai (張啟楷) has emerged as the winner in the
primary polls for the Chia-yi City mayoral race, beating KMT candidate Ong
Shou-liang (翁壽良).

Zhang calls the result a victory for the “blue-white cooperation pilot
zone,” noting that Chia-yi City is the first of three trial areas, including
Yi-lan County and New Taipei City.

At a press conference today, Zhang thanked Ong for a friendly campaign, and
Ong has agreed to serve as his campaign manager.

Zhang will face DPP nominee Wang Mei-hui (王美惠), who said today that she's
expecting a rational and positive race for the mayor's office in the November
elections.
