Government Assures Stable Plastic Supply Amid Middle East Tensions

The Ministry of Economic Affairs is moving to calm concerns over plastic shortages fueled by Middle East tensions.
Officials say domestic supplies of key materials, including those used for plastic bags and medical equipment, remain stable.
CPC is boosting production of ethylene — a key material used to make plastics — adding 19 thousand tons this month and another 30 thousand in May.
Part of that increase will go toward producing polyethylene — the main material used in plastic bags — while remaining capacity can be allocated as needed.
Officials say current production is enough to meet domestic demand of about 22 thousand tons per month, with additional supply available.
Authorities are urging the public not to panic buy, emphasizing that supply remains stable and sufficient for agricultural, food, and medical packaging.
