Premier Cho Jung-tai says the government's top priority in stabilizing prices amid Middle East tensions is ensuring normal production and supply chains.
He has instructed the Ministry of Economic Affairs to coordinate with Formosa Plastics and the state-run CPC to maintain steady output of key raw materials and secure additional sources of oil and fuel.
The Ministry of Transportation has also activated aviation fuel subsidies for airlines under existing regulations to help ease cost pressures.
Meanwhile, authorities are monitoring supplies of medical material inputs, as well as fertilizer and fuel for the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
The premier also warned against hoarding and price gouging, saying authorities will carry out joint inspections targeting hoarding and price gouging ... to help keep markets stable.
