Taichung Animation Festival Draws Holiday Crowds

Large crowds of anime fans are packing this year's Taichung International
Animation Festival as it opened today on the first day of the Tomb Sweeping
holiday.

The event is being held over four days at Taichung International Exhibition
Center ... and features around 300 booths from 72 exhibitors, showcasing
everything from comics and collectibles to limited-edition merchandise.

Organizers estimate the festival will attract up to 320 thousand visitors
over the holiday period.

Long lines formed both inside and outside the venue on opening day, with many
young fans lining up to enter.

Officials say the event showcases Taichung's ambitions to become an 'anime
capital' and a hub for creative industries.
