Calls rise for Penghu Magistrate's wife to take over as candidate

In Penghu, momentum is gathering to support Penghu Magistrate Chen Guang Fu's
wife to run in November in his stead.

That's as Chen has been in the hospital in a coma since a fall during the
Lunar New Year.

A petition supporting Wu Shu Jin (吳淑瑾) to run has gathered 4000 signatures.

Organizers are asking the DPP to consider nominating her instead of her
husband.

Local DPP representatives said that the petition does not represent the
opinion of the party as a whole, but added they respected supporters'
opinions.

Some have also wondered if DPP Huxi township chief Mayor Huang Jian Zhong
(黃健忠) would be up for the task.

Whether Chen or someone else runs for magistrate, they will face the KMT's
Chen Zhen Zhong (陳振中) in November.
