Taiwan Power has sent its plan for reactivating the No. 3 nuclear power plant to the Nuclear Safety Commission.
The state-run company says the move is part of the required legal process for restarting the nuclear reactors, but stresses that even if the plan is approved, the plant will not be able to resume operations immediately.
It says the plan includes staffing and training, restart procedures and routine maintenance and operational guidelines.
TaiPower says the plan is just for the preparation of resuming normal operations, and meanwhile it'll initiate a comprehensive self safety inspection, which is expected to take 18 to 24 months.
Afterwards the plant will still be reviewed by the N-S-C before a license can be issued.
