Taipei District Court Upholds Bail and Monitoring for Ko Wen-je

The Taipei District Court has ruled to maintain bail and electronic monitoring measures for former Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je and other defendants following today's sentencing.
The court says Ko will remain free on bail under existing conditions, including an electronic ankle bracelet and restrictions on residence and travel, rejecting his request to ease those measures or reduce his $70 million NT bail.
The decision came after a post-verdict hearing, where prosecutors argued all four defendants had been convicted and still face appeals and future sentencing procedures.
Ko was earlier sentenced to 17 years in prison and six years of civil rights deprivation in corruption and embezzlement cases linked to the Core Pacific City project and political donations.
