Taiwan's civil servants could see changes to their professional allowances under reforms planned by the end of June.
Personnel Administration Director Su Chun-jung (蘇俊榮) says he's seeking a pay raise for military personnel, civil servants and teachers, and expects to send the plan to the Cabinet in April once it's finalized.
The government had previously decided not to raise salaries this year, citing slower economic growth and other fiscal pressures, but officials now say the issue is still under review.
A salary review committee is expected to meet before June to discuss whether pay should be adjusted next year.
Officials say the changes are aimed at reflecting professional expertise, addressing staff shortages, and narrowing the pay gap with the private sector.
