Taiwan threatens to downgrade S. Korea's listing in e-arrival system

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung says Taipei will take further action if South Korea does not correct how it labels Taiwan in its online immigration system.
Lin announced a March 31st deadline for Seoul to change its current designation of Taiwan as 'China (Taiwan)', which Taiwan says undermines its sovereignty.
If no changes are made, Taiwan will respond by altering South Korea’s name in its own system to 'Korea (South)'.
Taiwan has already taken a first step this month, changing how South Korean nationals are labeled on residence permits.
Lin noted that South Korea previously asked Taiwan to use its official name, 'Republic of Korea', a request Taipei honored.
However, he says Seoul has not shown the same respect in return.
The dispute began after South Korea launched a new digital entry system in February last year, replacing paper arrival cards, listing Taiwan as 'China (Taiwan)'.
