Taipei is expanding facilities to improve rest areas for teachers.
Mayor Chiang Wan-an said a pilot plan launched in 16 schools last year will expand to 30 to 50 schools this year.
The city's Department of Education says each school can receive up to 1.45 million NT in funding ... with a total budget of 50 million NT planned for the 2026 program.
At Songshan High School, pilot facilities include massage chairs and shared spaces for dining or meetings.
Spaces are scheduled for both professional activities and relaxation, and a set timetable that prioritizes professional learning activities at certain times.
Mayor Chiang said he understands the pressure teachers face, and he hopes dedicated rest spaces will help retain talent and attract more people into education.
