Control Yuan Demands Improvements for Social Worker Complaint Platform

Government monitors are demanding a major overhaul of the national social worker complaint system.
The Control Yuan says that the Ministry of Health and Welfare failed to meet its own 60-day deadline for more than half of the cases filed last year.
Investigators found that 17 out of 27 complaints were delayed, and some cases took about a year, or even up to a year and nine months to process.
The Control Yuan blamed the delays on slow responses from local governments in Chiayi County and Taitung County, as well as slow internal procedures at the health ministry.
The report also warns that the system is not linked to the government’s subsidy or contract selection process, meaning that groups that break labor laws or fail to pay full salaries can still receive public funding.
The Yuan is calling on the ministry to fix these administrative gaps.
