Fire at Hsinchu power substation kills 1, injures 2

One person is dead and three others have been injured following a fire broke at the Zhuyuan Extra High Voltage Substation in Hsinchu City.
The fire at the Tai-Power facility in the city's East District broke out at yesterday afternoon.
The Hsinchu City Fire Bureau said firefighters received a report at 3:27PM of a suspected explosion at the facility and arrived six minutes later to begin extinguishing the blaze.
Three people were sent to the hospital for treatment, including one who was later pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
According to Tai-Power, the fire occurred while voltage stabilization equipment at the substation was undergoing testing and the incident caused a brief voltage drop affecting some power users in the Hsinchu Science Park.
However, Tai-Power says the blaze did not cause a power outage or disrupt the park's electricity supply.
