MOEA rebuts online rumors of looming natural gas shortage

The Ministry of Economic Affairs is rebutting online rumors that Taiwan is
facing a shortage of natural gas that will in turn affect the power supply.

The ministry says Taiwan has sufficient gas en route to handle electricity
generation needs at least through April.

It added that there is currently no indication of any gas shortage, and there
are no plans to reduce generation.

It said alternative arrangements are being made to secure replacement for 22
shipments that were previously planned from Qatar in March and April.

Meanwhile, the ministry says it condemns the deliberate dissemination of
misinformation.
